I think you need to carefully review your decision to feature in the Plymouth Independent the travel diary of Rabbi Estelle Mills. Her observations she has published thus far on her visit to Israel are deeply skewed to highlight the events of Oct. 7 as though they occurred in a political and humanitarian vacuum rather than as terrible consequences of a decades-long illegal and violent occupation of the indigenous people in East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza. While human suffering is to be always condemned, it must not be condemned selectively. And in good conscience, the Independent must assess the editorial stance that is implied by its publication of this series that so wholly ‘stands with Israel’ despite the internationally recognized horrors it is inflicting on a captive and innocent population.
