Thanks to the Talking Information Center, you can now listen to some of the Plymouth Independent’s journalism.

Since 1978, the Marshfield-based center has provided a reading service available to all – especially to the blind, visually impaired, and otherwise text-impaired population of Massachusetts and beyond. Each week, approximately 200 volunteers read aloud from national and local newspapers, current affairs publications, consumer information, and community-based announcements. TIC’s programming can be listened to by anyone, live or by podcast.

Volunteers Steve and Gail Mattern are producing a weekly half-hour podcast of Plymouth Independent stories, letters, and calendar listings. A new episode is released every Saturday and can be streamed here. Podcast subscriptions can also be set up for iTunes and other apps using this rss feed. Please spread the word to anyone who might enjoy this service.

We believe that journalism as a public service should be free to the community.
That’s why the support of donors like you is critical.
