If you’ve got rusting cans of old paint, buckets of dirty motor oil and other gross waste products taking up space in your garage, here’s a chance to dispose of them without harming the environment.

The Town of Plymouth has scheduled its latest Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day for Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 159 Camelot Drive.

There are limitations on what will be accepted – brake fluid and drain cleaners are OK, for example, but fire extinguishers and construction debris are not. Check out the full lists of acceptable and unacceptable items here.

You also need to register online here in advance of April 20 and provide proof of residency on the collection day itself. A driver’s license, auto registration, tax/utility bill, or transfer station/recycling center sticker are all accepted.

And if April 20 doesn’t work for you, there are five other hazardous waste collection days in area towns. All you need to do is register and have proof of residency with you on the day of the event. The South Shore Recycling Cooperative site has a list of dates and times.

If you still have questions, or need to reschedule or cancel after registering, email ssrchhw@gmail.com or call the cooperative at 781-329-8318.Mark Pothier can be reached at mark@plymouthindependent.org.
