Opening Reception-The Horseshoe Crab: Against All Odds (Plymouth)

June 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Horseshoe crabs have existed for more than 400 million years, surviving five mass extinctions, yet are now threatened world-wide due to overfishing and loss of spawning habitat. Their blue blood is harvested for biomedical testing, resulting in an ever- increasing pressure on their populations The exhibition and the events (for children and adults) occurring over International Horseshoe Crab Day (June 20), highlight the lifecycle and ecological importance of horseshoe crabs in the web of life.
