Are there any law-abiding citizens out there that would like to sit on the Airport Commission?  There will be two openings and you do not need any airport knowledge to apply.  Just a desire to keep the airport running with less noise and more transparency.

Did you know the airport has a number to call with complaints? 508-746-2020. Please call when the noise from the planes is too loud, too close to your house, circling, looping over and over again.  But just be careful how many times you call.

Depending on if you call too much because numerous planes are flying over your house every minute, they could call the police on you.  A woman living near the airport called 15 times in one day with different airplanes and different instances only leaving voicemails.  The voicemails were recorded and were listened to by the court.  The application was denied.  The allegation was making annoying phone calls.  The airport was found to be the “dominant aggressor”. So there ended up being no charges because they couldn’t show cause to press charges.  It was denied and the court and police determined that the airport was the dominant aggressor.  Yet, if you make too many complaint calls it could lead any one of us to a court appearance.  This is what they did to this woman.

Lastly, at Town Meeting on April 11th while a different woman was speaking to represent Precinct 10 regarding airport transparency and gravity line there was heckling from two men in the auditorium.  Jeff Fosdick, vice chair of Precinct 11 and son of Ken Fosdick, commissioner of the airport and Justin Fosdick, a member of the Community Advisory Committee to the airport and grandson of Ken Fosdick.  All of these men hold board positions in town.  When the woman finished speaking, she was heckled with foul language and told that you suck by Jeff Fosdick while this town meeting was in progress.  Both Jeff and Justin were spoken to by the Town moderator but were not removed from the meeting.  Why not? Ken Fosdick and the airport commission can file a complaint about a woman calling the airport about too many planes overhead, but both Jeff and Justin can remain in a public meeting speaking with disgraceful language in public.  Jeff should not have any responsible positions representing the town.

The next meeting of the Airport Commission is May 7th at 7:00 pm.  If you’re tired of the noise, the lack of transparency or the growth of the airport or just want to listen, please join us.

The CAC (Community Advisory Committee) which was created to work with both the airport and the neighbors will be meeting this Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 at the airport.  Please come and join us.  We need more residents to take notice and speak up. Thank you.
