The Town of Plymouth will be holding its annual local election on May 16th, 2026. There will be candidates for Select Board, School Committee, the Planning Board, Housing Authority, Redevelopment Authority and at least 3 Town Meeting Members for each precinct. The League of Women Voters of the Plymouth Area has a goal to increase the number of voters in our local elections. Voters need to know who is running and what they stand for.
The LWV of the Plymouth Area has just the answer: A Candidates’ Forum on April 30th and an on-line Candidates Guide.
The on-line Candidates Guide is found here: https://www.plymouthlwv.org/voter-guide-2026/. It gives each candidate a few questions to answer to explain who they are, why they are running along with their top priorities.
The Candidates Forum will be held live and seen on The Local Seen on April 30th at 7:00 pm at the Plymouth Town Hall in the Great Hall. A video will be available shortly after and a link to it will be found at https://www.plymouthlwv.org/.
The Candidates Forum will have two parts – one for the Select Board candidates and one for School Committee. The Planning Board, Housing Authority, and Redevelopment Authority are uncontested.
We would also like to reiterate information on obtaining a mail-in ballot, which must be done every year.
To request mail-in ballots for some or all this year’s elections go to: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/MailInRequestWeb/MailInBallot.aspx
or print and return the Vote-by-Mail Application (PDF) found here: https://www.plymouth-ma.gov/664/Election-Voter-Information to the Town Clerk’s office by mail, via email or apply in-person.
As a reminder, voters have until 7 p.m. on Election Day, Sat., May 16, 2026, to return voted ballots to the Town Clerk’s office or Drop Box at Town Hall. Once you put your ballot in the mail or the Drop Box you can track it here: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/WhereDoIVoteMA/TrackMyBallot.
If you mail your ballot, please be sure to leave extra time for your ballot to reach the Town Clerk’s office as post office rules for processing mail have changed.
The deadline to request a vote by mail ballot for the this election (our Local Town Election) is Monday, May 11, 2026, at 5 pm.
Early in-person voting will start on May 7th at the Plymouth Town Hall Atrium and continue daily until May13th (including Sunday). Exact times can be found on the Plymouth Town Clerk’s website: https://www.plymouth-ma.gov/664/Election-Voter-Information
Remember many polling locations have changed so use the above web address to check where you vote in-person. Even if you request a mail-in ballot, you may vote early in-person or on election day as long as you have not already sent in the mail-in ballot.
Democracy is not a spectator sport; it requires your participation!
