Neil E. MacLeod Sr.

Neil E. MacLeod Sr., who worked in quality control in the cranberry industry, died peacefully July 16. He was 78.

Born Dec. 9, 1949, in Boston, to the late Angus Neil and E. Lorraine (Collins) MacLeod, he graduated from Norwell High School and spent his formative years in Norwell before moving to Plymouth, where he raised his family with his wife Bette.

He dedicated his career to the cranberry industry, working in quality control for both Ocean Spray and Decas Cranberry. An avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, he enjoyed watching old television shows and the occasional game of Keno.

He is survived by wife; daughters, Kimberly Colby of Middleboro, and Karen Kneeland and her husband Kyle of Plymouth; his son, Neil E. MacLeod Jr. of Plymouth; his brother, John MacLeod of Whitman, and his sisters, Elaine Garvey and her husband Jerry of Norwell and Jeanine Cogburn and her husband Bruce of Kingston; his grandchildren Travis Colby, Blake Colby, Dylan Kneeland, Colin Kneeland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Scott and sisters Linda MacLeod and Joanne Vivona.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21 at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, in the funeral home, followed by cremation at Vine Hills Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Neil’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
