John "Jack" McNeill

John “Jack” McNeill, a bus driver for Plymouth & Brockton Bus Lines for 30 years, died Sunday, April 19 at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 78.

Born in Boston on Feb. 24, 1948, he was raised in Dorchester and had been a resident of Plymouth for the past sixty years. Before he became a bus driver, he worked at the Fore River Shipyard.

His family and friends remember him for his lifelong love of the outdoors, fishing, hunting camping and family gatherings. He was a regular participant in the annual Morton Park Fishing Derby, and was always ready for an adventure. He worked with the Cub Scouts and coached youth hockey and baseball, and was a record breaker donating his rare blood type  to the Red Cross. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Garibaldi Club in North Plymouth.

He is survived by his wife, Corrine; and three children, John “Jack” McNeill and his wife Coleen, of Plymouth; Erica McNeill, of Carver; and Jason McNeill and his wife Pamela, of Plymouth. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicole, Brittany, Baily, Torri, Damon, Nicholas, Austin, Khloee; and great grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Layla, and Matilda; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of Marie Doran and her husband Frank ,of Marshfield; and Susan Magno, of Easton, and the late Richard McNeill.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. April 30  Thursday at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth. A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. May 1 at St. Peter’s Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth.
