Charlene M. “Chick” Puglia, a longtime dog breeder and groomer, died peacefully at home Wednesday, Aug. 19. She was 82.
Born in Stoneham, MA, on Jan. 14, 1944, to the late Dolly and Charlie Macdonald, she grew up in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School and Lesley College. She and her husband of 57 years, Vincent, co-owned VP Kennels, a dog breeding and grooming business. Her interests also included singing, playing piano and trumpet, and tennis, which she played into her 70s.
She is survived by her husband Vincent Puglia; her sister, Jackie Campaigne; her children and their spouses, Meredith and Gunnar Whitehead, Markus and Kim Puglia, Marcy and Dave Lawless, and Matthew and Sam Puglia; and nine grandchildren, Reide, Colby, Gage and Piper Whitehead, Autumn Rose and Kaden Puglia, and Quinton, Bowen and Avery Parkinson.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Morris Animal Foundation and organizations supporting children and their advocacy.
