I want to correct the record regarding the Plymouth Independent’s recent election article, which falsely states that I did not respond to a request for an interview.
I did respond to Fred Thys the very same day he contacted me, asking that he send me the questions he wanted answered. He declined, stating that the paper would only conduct telephone interviews.
My disinclination to participate in interviews with Fred Thys specifically stems from his history of editorializing rather than simply reporting the news, and his repeated tendency to revisit manufactured controversies. Unfortunately, the tone and content of this latest article only reinforce my concerns and suggest that my instincts were well-founded.
The Plymouth Independent routinely ignores what happens on Beacon Hill unless it can be used to paint the political establishment in a favorable light. I am running for State Representative to promote affordability, transparency, accountability, local control, and fiscal restraint in both our local and state governments. But those priorities seem to matter far less to Fred Thys and his editor than generating clickbait and influencing this election in favor of their preferred candidates.
