Marcia J. Keen

Marcia J. Keen, formerly of Plymouth, died on Sept. 14 after a battle with cancer.  She was 82.

Born Aug. 4, 1944, in Plymouth to Henry and Dorothy (Crane) Walton, she received a Carnegie Hero Medal at aged 14 after she saved a six-year-old boy from drowning at Manomet Beach. She graduated from Plymouth High in 1962 and went on to pursue nursing at Truesdale School of Nursing and graduated in 1965. She was a nurse for more than 20 years at Plymouth County Hospital and Cranberry Specialty Hospital. After she retired, she joined the staff at her veterinarian’s office in Halifax. 

She is survived by her son, Michael Williams (Keiko); niece Melissa English (Joseph); nephew Kenneth (Kathleen); stepchildren, Nancy McFarland, Sally Davis (Scott), and Phillip Keen; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Richard Keen, who died July 23.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Oct. 17 at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd, Manomet, followed immediately by a joint memorial service. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360; or MA Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals – Angell Animal Care and Adoption Center, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston MA 02130.
