Dennis G. Seward, of Plymouth, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sept. 5, 2026. He was 82.
Born Nov. 13, 1943, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, to the late Peter and Mary Seward (Borden), he graduated from East Coast Aero Tech with a technical diploma in aviation maintenance. He worked more than 45 years as a finish carpenter and construction supervisor at Lee Kennedy Construction Company in Boston.
He was a longtime member and trustee at Faunce Church in South Plymouth, where he frequently hosted church breakfasts to build community.
His family and friends remember his love of country music, annual camping trips to Peter’s Pond Park in Sandwich, fishing on Long Pond, and a rum and coke with Les Plimpton, his close neighborhood friend.
He is survived by his children, Melissa C. Howarth of Plymouth; Peter J. and his wife Susan Seward of Bourne; Kevin G. and his wife Yassena Seward of Plymouth; and his grandchildren Elizabeth, Margaret, and Ayla Seward. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Collagan of Weymouth; his close cousin, Juliette MacLeod of Fall River, Nova Scotia; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Florence (Gillis) Seward; and his parents.
A joint celebration of life for both he and his wife will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Wildlands Trust’s Community Conservation Barn, 675 Long Pond Rd., Plymouth. A burial will follow at a later date at Faunce Church in Plymouth.
