Robert “Bob” L. Ferguson Sr., formerly of Plymouth and affectionately known as “Fergie,” died peacefully at his home in Ocala, FL, Sept. 6. He was 84.
Born Nov. 23, 1941 to the late Roderick and Catherine (Butts) Ferguson, he grew up in Boston and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1960. From 1960 to 1964, he was a Military Police Officer with the U.S. Army. He then worked for 40 years in the auto body parts and paint industry in Plymouth.
A devoted Boston sports fan, his family and friends remember him for his quick wit, famous one-liners, and infectious laughter.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Ferguson (McMorrow); his children, Robert L. Ferguson Jr. and his wife, Joanne, of Sagamore Beach, MA, and Bonnie Love and her husband, Ryan, of Pembroke, MA; five grandchildren, Christian, Audrey, Brady, Abigail, and Nolan; his brothers, George Ferguson and Daniel Ferguson.
.Visitation will be 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 24 at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. followed by a service at noon. A graveside service will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:30 pm.
