Catherine Paula Crawford, of Plymouth, remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly on July 11, 2026. She was 73.
Raised in Scituate by her late parents Joseph and Virginia Downey, she later made her home in Plymouth, where she raised her family with her husband of 52 years, Richard Crawford. Her family and friends remember her for her quick wit and generosity.
She is survived by sisters: Virginia Philippy and her husband David of Grantham, NH; Terry Waldron and her late husband Kevin of Weymouth; and Mary Bonasoro and her husband Jim of Danvers. She is also survived by her late brother-in-law, Donnie Crawford, and his wife, Diana of Whitman, MA, sisters-in-law Elaine Crawford of Middletown, RI, Carol Crawford of Largo, Florida, and Gail Howe of Agawam, along with grandchildren Owen and Cian Murphy, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Christina Murphy of Plymouth, and son, Richard John Crawford of Norfolk, VA.; and sisters Patricia Downey and Susan Collier.
Visitation will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 23 at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, followed at noon by a funeral Mass at at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Road.
