Thomas R. 'Tim' McDonald

Thomas R. “Tim” McDonald, an U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime sales manager at Mullare News Agency, died Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth. He was 81.

Born March 2, 1945, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, to the late Milton and Mary (Ryan) McDonald, he was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed a round at the Bay Pointe Golf Club in Onset, and took pride in his carpentry and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy (Houghton) McDonald; two daughters, Kathleen Morrisey of Apex, NC, and Karen Thwing and her husband, Michael, of Pembroke; grandchildren Erin, Ryan, Benjamin, Willem, Patrick, Emerson, and Connor; brothers John “Jack” McDonald and his wife, Sheila, of Cary, NC, and William “Bill” McDonald and his wife, Susan, of Greenfield.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to caregivers at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth, the Massachusetts General Hospital ALS Department, the VA Boston Healthcare System, and Compassionate Care ALS of Falmouth for the care and kindness shown to him throughout his illness.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Road in Plymouth, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care ALS (CCALS), P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
