As the year winds down, the Plymouth Independent’s board of directors extends its thanks to you – our readers – for your continued support, and particularly to the many donors who are helping us bring quality local journalism to Plymouth. Because of you, we were able to provide the town with a wide range of news and information in 2025, including these stories:

The Plymouth Foundation mostly works out of the public eye. When Town Meeting members raised concerns about transparency, your donations allowed us to explore how this nonprofit wields influence over Plymouth’s development — giving taxpayers the visibility they deserve into decisions that shape our town’s future.

Can Memorial Hall be saved? Your support took readers inside the crumbling 100-year-old venue to see water-infiltrated electrical rooms, ancient heating systems, and structural damage hidden for years. As Plymouth faces a defining choice about this cultural anchor, you ensured the community had the information needed for this crucial conversation.

At Hedge Elementary, diversity and community thrive while immigration fears swirl around it. Your generosity made it possible to tell the stories of families helping each other navigate a new country, teachers adapting to students who speak Portuguese at home, and the reality of life inside Plymouth’s smallest and most diverse school.

Town meeting acts as Plymouth’s legislature. Because of you, the Independent was able to preview the spring and fall sessions, explaining the most important – and often complicated – warrant items in detail. We also provided post-meeting wrap-ups, putting town meeting’s decisions on spending and other matters in context.

Thank you for believing in independent news that serves Plymouth and gives back to the community every year. Thank you for making 2025’s most meaningful reporting possible. And thank you for being part of a community that values truth, accountability, and understanding.

With gratitude,

Board of Directors
The Plymouth Independent

P.S. If you know others who value independent local news, we hope you’ll share The Plymouth Independent with them. And if you haven’t already, please sign up for our emails to keep current with the latest news and other information on our site.

That’s why the support of donors like you is critical.
