I am writing in response to the letter written by Valerie Fredette. She states [that] with beach stickers on her cars she is unable to access White Horse or Priscilla beach. As a matter of fact, Priscilla Beach is private. This is not [in] dispute.

White Horse Beach has 560 feet of public beach attended by lifeguards. It is easy to find this area. There is a generous handicap accessible public access across the street from Hilltop. There are also seasonal “porta potties” at this entrance serviced by the town DPW. Everyone is welcome to enjoy (and respect) the beach.

With regard to the entire beach being public, while areas of the beach are considered public, access to those areas from Taylor Avenue are not. To cut through oceanside boardwalks, you would be trespassing on private property. These rows are private rights of way for deeded property owners of White Horse Village. This right is stated in their property deeds. There are two other public access points to White Horse Beach.

The issue Fredette speaks to, I believe, is accommodation for her car. Your beach sticker entitles you as a Plymouth resident to park in any parking spot at White Horse (Taylor Avenue and side streets) on a first come basis where legally permissible.

Expanding the beach sticker program to White Horse Beach has entitled Plymouth residents priority of vehicle access while improving quality of life for White Horse Beach residents.

Fredette not mention any of the town’s numerous other beach areas. Your beach sticker is valid for parking at these as well. We welcome Plymouth residents to enjoy and respect all of the town’s beaches.
