Select Board candidate Scott Vecchi has a serious credibility problem.

At a forum on May 1, Mr. Vecchi claimed that a “toxic environment exists at the Plymouth Police Department” and blamed Police Chief Dana Flynn and Town Manager Derek Brindisi for it.

The Plymouth Independent has reported Mr. Vecchi worked for more than 25 years in the Plymouth Police Department, during which time  more than 30 civilian and internal complaints were filed against him, repeatedly accusing him of “rudeness, bullying, and harassment.” In 2022, he was placed on paid administrative leave  pending investigation into yet another complaint. In December 2022, he resigned with a $280,000 payout.

At a time when the President of the United States still denies that he lost the 2020 election, perhaps we should not be surprised to have his municipal equivalent in our midst. Mr. Vecchi’s candidacy is an insult to the intelligence of Plymouth voters.
