First Parish in Plymouth (FPP) Unitarian Universalist, welcomes the Reverend Rumni Saha as its new minister.
Rev. Rumni describes herself as “A proud Hindu, a faithful Unitarian Universalist and an ardent humanist dedicated to nurturing communities of compassion, curiosity and courage.”
Born in India, Rev. Rumni attended Boston University where she obtained a master’s degree in education, and later, theology.
Rev. Rumni brings a wealth of experience to Plymouth. Before Joining FPP, she served as a beloved chaplain at Wellesley College. She was also the interfaith chaplain at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and at Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro, where she worked closely with people experiencing homelessness and collaborated with faith leaders from various religious traditions. Before entering ministry, Rev. Rumni was a long-term teacher of students with disabilities in the Massachusetts public schools.
In her role at FPP, Rev. Rumni will lead Sunday worship services, provide pastoral care, offer faith formation opportunities and build meaningful connections throughout the wider community. In joining First Parish, Rev. Rumni said, “I’m excited to be part of a congregation that speaks the language of kindness, puts love into action, is ready to embrace creative possibilities and believes in the power of community to make the world a little gentler. I look forward to all we will create together.”
First Parish in Plymouth traces its lineage to the arrival of the “Separatists” in 1620. The congregation’s home is the National Pilgrim Memorial Meeting House at 12 Town Square, just steps away from the fort where the pilgrims first began to hold their services.
During the renovation of the historic Meeting House, the congregation holds Sunday services in Brewster Chapel, up the hill to the left, behind the Meeting House. You can learn more about Rev.
