I have noticed a number of folks who have recently advocated a resurrection of nuclear power for Plymouth. It seems likely to me that they have less than adequate knowledge about the current state of federal policy and law governing disposal of nuclear waste. We in Plymouth have recently learned of human deaths in the region surrounding the now closed down reactor. As far as I can tell, there is currently no other federal policy for the disposal of nuclear waste than to leave it at the site of the reactor when it is closed. I am sure that many have read about the recent Harvard study that documented the deaths of folks here in Plymouth living near the nuclear generator.
Although there have been attempts over the years to designate regions of our country for the deposit of nuclear residue, none exist at this time.
I don’t understand why anyone would risk human lives with nuclear power when Plymouth is so fortunate to be able to generate electricity safely via wind and sun. Of course, until there is a change in the White House, we are discouraged from using wind.
