The Fourth of July holiday is reason to celebrate our freedom (while we still can?). In Plymouth, it also means dealing with plenty of parking and road restrictions. The police department has released the details of where you can’t park on July 3 and 4.  It says that “no parking” areas will be marked with signs and orange barrels.

Spending a few minutes reading this now could save you from being ticketed or towed later.

July 3, White Horse Beach

Taylor Avenue will be blocked to all traffic, except White Horse Beach residents. The road will be closed at White Horse Road / Rocky Hill Road and Manomet Point Road/Taylor Avenue beginning at 6:00 PM and remained closed as deemed necessary.

All side streets leading to the Priscilla Beach area will be closed to all traffic, except for residents, beginning at 6:00 PM.

There will be no parking along both sides of Manomet Point Road, Highland Terrace, White Horse Road, Manomet Avenue, Old Beach Road, and Rocky Hill Road between White Horse Road and Powerhouse Road all day.

There will be no parking on both sides of the following side streets: Brian’s Way, Lopresti Road, Vine Brook Road, Cary Road, Fair Oaks Road, Arboretum Road, Emerson Field, the Second Church, and Beaver Dam Road from State Road to Patriot’s Circle. There will be additional Parking Restrictions on Melix Avenue, Cape Cod Avenue, Reed Avenue, and Strand Avenue.

Manomet Elementary School will be closed to the public all day.

July 4, parade and fireworks

There will be NO OVERNIGHT PARKING throughout the downtown area beginning at 12AM on July 4th. This includes Court Street from Cordage Park to North Street, Main Street, Main Street Extension, and Water Street. Any vehicle found in violation will be ticketed and towed beginning at 6AM.

There will be NO PARKING on Water Street between Union and Brewster streets, the west side of Water Street between Brewster Street and Park Avenue, Carver Street, Market Street, and Summer Street from Market Street to Westerly Road all day beginning at 5AM.

Water Street will close between Union and Brewster Streets beginning at 6:00 AM and will remain closed until the conclusion of the fireworks, which will begin at approximately 9:30 PM. There will be NO PARKING on the east side of Sandwich Street from Water Street to Stephen’s Field beginning at 5AM. This will remain in effect until after the Fireworks. There will be NO PARKING all day on Morton Park Road and Thoreau Road.

Getting out after the fireworks

  • Route 3 north and southbound off-ramps will be closed at the start of the fireworks.
  • All Samoset Street traffic between Court Street and Route 3 will be diverted westbound ONLY – Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto Route 3 southbound.
  • Westerly Road will be closed between Summer Street and Samoset Street to through traffic. The northern end of Westerly Road will be closed at Alden Street with traffic diverted to Standish Avenue.
  • All Summer Street traffic will be diverted westbound – All eastbound traffic on Summer Street will be diverted at Pilgrim Hill Road.
  • All Sandwich Street traffic from Water Street will be diverted southbound to Warren Avenue.
  • All traffic on Main Street Ext., Main Street and Court Street between Sandwich and Samoset Streets will be diverted northbound.
  • All Water Street traffic will be diverted up Brewster Street, Chilton Street and Park Avenue to Court Street.
  • All state boat ramp traffic will be diverted north on Water Street, then north on Court Street.

One last note: Skateboarding, rollerblading, and bicycling are banned in the downtown area during the July Fourth events, according to police. Let’s hope they also look out for wild kids on illegally operated e-bikes.
