I read the Plymouth Independent on a regular basis. One of the biggest hindrances to any kind of development to downtown Plymouth is the lack of parking (“Can downtown Plymouth be more like Portsmouth?”). I have lived here for over 50 years, and it has always been an issue. When it gets busy, there is not enough parking available. The parking behind Town Hall helps but is not enough, and what visitor would even know it is there?

For years there have been proposals for a parking garage behind Memorial Hall which would benefit all of downtown and nothing has ever happened. Build it – pay for the construction with a municipal bond. The parking fees will pay it off. I have supported the building of Plymouth schools, fire stations, and police facilities – so why is building a parking lot such an insurmountable venture?
