Tareq Zawaideh, a longtime pharmacist in both Jordan and the U.S. died peacefully in his home Feb. 23 surrounded by his family.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1944, to Jeries and Malakeh Al-Zawaideh in Madaba, Jordan and earned a degree in Chemistry and Pharmacy from the University of Belgrade. He was a pharmacist in Jordan and the US.
His family and friends remember him as a loving family man and a second father, or “amo,” to many others. They said he would often tell stories filled with humor, kindness and guidance.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Halstead; his children Lubna (Munjed), Geoff (Sunitha), Will (Robyn), and Molly (Wes); his brother Zayed (Patrizia); his sisters Naheel, Asma, and Fadia (Brien); eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeries and Malakeh Al-Zawaideh; and his siblings Akram, Ziad, Rajai, and Soumaya.
Visitation is set for 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28 with a service to immediately follow at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral home, 619 State Rd. Plymouth. A private burial will be at a later date.
