Richard Bennett, 87, of Plymouth passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his service, he earned a degree in education. He earned two master’s degrees during his 30-year career teaching at Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston.
Dick loved sports and coached Little League Baseball, Plymouth Youth Soccer and was a Boy Scout troop leader. He was always happy to volunteer and was a member of the Plymouth Woodchucks, a group that made wooden toys for needy children at Christmas. He was a long-time member of the Plymouth Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing the Northeast coast.
After retirement, he and Claire enjoyed being “snowbirds,” living in Naples, FL in the winters at Naples Land Yacht Harbor. They also liked travelling the Intra Coastal Waterway. He made friends everywhere he went and always had a joke, a smile, and a twinkle in his eye.
