Mark S. Lindgren, 68, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital- Plymouth after a long illness. Born on Feb. 14, 1957, in Brockton, Mark was the cherished son of the late Roy and Alma (McGuire) Lindgren.
Mark’s early education took place in Brockton elementary schools then in Easton where he graduated from Southeastern Vocational Technical High School. His commitment to service was evident from a young age, as he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Mark embarked on a distinguished career in the Fire Service, where he dedicated himself to protecting others. He received specialized training as a crash/structural firefighter at the Otis Air National Guard Base from 1981 to 1988. His career took him to various roles, including as a health and safety representative for Clean Harbors Environmental Services in Quincy, and later as a crash/structural firefighter for Johnson Controls World Services Inc. at the U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Mark also served with honor in the Sandwich Fire Department and concluded his career as a laborer for the Duxbury Department of Public Works.
Mark was known for his deep love of animals, especially dogs, and his unwavering support for his favorite sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. His passion for life and his infectious spirit brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his loving sisters, Karen Persampieri of Taunton, Gail Holway-Peters and her husband Al Peters of Plymouth, Mary Lindgren Matta of Duxbury, Katherine Kustanovitz and her husband Barry of Carver, and his brother Dennis Lindgren of Havasu, AZ. Mark also leaves behind a legacy of love through his many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish their memories with him. Mark was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Matta, and brother-in-law Kenneth Holway.
Visiting hours will be held at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:30 p.m.

Mark S. Lindgren will be remembered for his dedication to service, his love for family and friends, and his unwavering spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.
