Marian Constance Boudreau, an influential former president of the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth and a longtime volunteer teacher of English as a second language at Plymouth libraries, died Feb. 15 surrounded by her family.
She was 86.
Born in Plymouth on Feb. 8, 1940, she was the daughter of Anne and Adelmo Benassi. She is survived by her husband of more than 64 years, Babe (Donald), and three children: Donald (Mike) and his wife Laura, Scott and his wife Cathy, and Karen and her husband Mike, all of Plymouth.
She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Cassandra, Ryan and his wife Shayna, Aydan and his wife Marcelle, Eric and his wife Jenn, Jacquelyn and her husband Tim, Mike and his wife Chelsea. She had eleven great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Fragment Society and supported underprivileged children in New York City and overseas. She volunteered her time teaching English through the Plymouth Public Library’s English as a Second Language program. For more than 10 years, she was president of the Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth, where she led its transformation from a small downtown club to one housed in its current state-of-the-art 17,000-square-foot facility.
Her family and friends remember her as someone always willing to help others in need, a gregarious personality introducing her family members to new people on vacation — her smile, friendliness, and personality a force to bring new experiences and friendships. She opened her door and her heart to all in need.
In her final years at Newfield House, she continued to bring smiles, warmth, and kindness to many, and will be remembered for her generosity and a life of service to her family and community.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 313 Court St., Plymouth with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks anyone to please consider a commitment to helping others in her name, or a donation to one of her favorite charities: Boys & Girls Club of Plymouth, The Plymouth Fragment Society, St. Mary’s of Plymouth and St. Vincent de Paul.
