Marcia (Sturtevant) Hathaway, 84, died peacefully on Jan. 15 at Keystone Place in Buzzards Bay. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul J. Hathaway for 59 years. She was born on July 20, 1941, and was a lifelong Plymouth resident.
Marcia was the daughter of the late Alden and Eleanor (Wood) Sturtevant. She was educated in the Plymouth schools and was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Class of 1959. Marcia worked as a secretary and health aide in the Plymouth school system for many years. She spent most of her career at Cold Spring Elementary and Hedge Elementary school.
Marcia enjoyed golfing, bowling, skiing and traveling. Marcia and Paul were fortunate to travel extensively with their close nit friends. One of her favorite trips was their cruise to Alaska. She was also a member of the Church of the Pilgrimage in Plymouth.
She is survived by her son Craig Hathaway of Plymouth; her daughters Kristyne Wood and her husband Eugene Wood of Plymouth, and Cheryl Cobb of Plymouth. She was the grandmother of Michael J. Wood and his wife Peg, Jefferey A. Wood, Cody J. Hathaway, and Zachary T. Cobb, and great-grandmother of Dom Wood and Brayden Perry.
Visiting hours will be held at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth, on Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a service to follow at noon. Burial will be at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth.
Marcia’s family expresses its gratitude to the staff at Keystone Place for the love and care shown to their mother and for the many acts of love, kindness and support shown during her life and illness by the friends she leaves behind.
