Judith Holmes (Austin) Nicholson

After several years of failing health Judith Holmes (Austin) Nicholson, 82, died on Nov. 25 in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Known to friends and family as Judy, she was born at Phaneuf Hospital in Brockton on July 29, 1942, the daughter of Robert and Rose (Pilla) Austin.

She graduated from South Broward County High School, Class of 1960. She met her husband Don in his hometown of East Bridgewater while she visited family during summer breaks away from her family’s home in Florida.

Judy and Don started their family in Brockton but soon moved to Hanson in 1968, and landed in Plymouth in 1977.

Judy worked in retail sales for many years, including the gift shop at Plimoth Plantation (now Plimoth Patuxet Museums) for which she is still well known in Plymouth today.

Judy was an avid shopper and enjoyed crafts, gardening, cooking, decorating, and genealogy. She always had an eye out for the 3 P’s: Pocketbooks, pillows, and placemats,

Judy was predeceased by her husband and leaves her children, Donald A. Nicholson III of Plymouth, Cheryl Ballem of Carver, and Christine Dattoli of Florida; three brothers, Philip, Robert, and Richard Austin all of Massachusetts; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
