James J. “Jimmy” Cushing, a graduate of Plymouth High School and a plumber for Wind River Environmental, died Saturday at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth. He was 47.
Born in Weymouth on Aug. 6, 1978, Cushing was remembered by family and friends for his kindness, compassion, generosity and devotion to his family. An early riser, avid fan of the Bruins and the Patriots, and a lover of Snickers, Reese’s Cups and Payday bars, and a lover of long drives in his Dodge Durango, games of horseshoes and cornhole, and beach days with his family.
He is survived by his wife Megan (Flora); two daughters, Brynn and Bria Cushing; his father Edward, of Plymouth; his sister, Michele Gagnon and her husband Allan of Plymouth; his brother, Eddie Cushing and his wife Lucy of Bradenton; his sister-in-law Jill Cushing Olah of Bradenton; and his brother-in-law John Bastoni of Wareham; and his nieces and nephews Lily, Phoebe, Ivy, Callie, Trace, Eamon, Katie, Ethan, Faye, Lily, Sammy, Taylor, Peter, and Andrew. He was also godfather to Molly Bastoni and Eamon Cushing.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Beverly Flora, and was the brother-in-law of Scott and Laura Flora, and Amy and Bill TenBerge; and the nephew of his great-aunt Carolyn Evans, Aunt Barbara, and Aunt Gail; great uncle to Violet, Eamon “Leo,” Gabrielle, Leo, Madison, and Mason.
Visitation will be 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, with a funeral service to immediately follow.
