James B. Miller, of Plymouth, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on May 26. He was the devoted husband of Kathy (Zebora) Miller and a loving father to Matthew Miller and his wife Jillian of Hanover, and Timothy Miller and his wife Danielle of Bradenton, FL. Jim was a proud grandfather to Brooke, Morgan, and Davis.
Born in Quincy, Jim was the son of the late Richard L. and Helen E. (Murphy) Miller. He was raised in the Squantum area of Quincy and graduated from North Quincy High School. After beginning his career at Provident Savings, Jim joined the United States Air Force Reserves in service to his country and earned his bachelor’s degree from Suffolk University.
Jim and Kathy met in Boston and married in 1973, beginning a partnership that spanned 52 joyful years. Soon after, they moved to Plymouth to raise their family and pursue a new adventure as owners of the Full Sail on White Horse Beach. Following this, Jim began a successful career as a computer programmer. He worked for several prominent companies and remained dedicated until his retirement in 2010.
Jim and Kathy cherished their winters in Ruskin, Florida, and their many wonderful friends in Plymouth. Jim was an avid boater and a member of the Plymouth Yacht Club. A devoted Boston sports fan, Jim loved the moments he spent with his sons on the golf course, watching sports, or simply sharing a laugh over a cold beer.
Above all, Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit. He had a special bond with his many nieces and nephews, who adored their funny, thoughtful, and always entertaining Uncle Jim. Jim brought laughter and light to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Mary E. Cooney, Frances M. Henderson, Richard L. Miller, Jr., and Eleanor L. Guilbault.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Plymouth Boys & Girls Club.
