Emily L. Scharath

Emily L. Scharath, a 57-year resident of Plymouth, died Sunday, April 26 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. She was 87.

Born and raised in Rumford, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Lucy (Arsenault) Perry. She lived for many years in Somerville before settling in Plymouth in 1969. She held a variety of jobs throughout her life, most recently working in the billing department at Talbots.

Her family and friends remember her as someone who enjoyed knitting, bowling, jigsaw puzzles, trips to Foxwoods, bingo, and scratch tickets.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan Scharath and his wife, Michelle, of Plymouth, and her granddaughters, Abby and Emily Scharath, also of Plymouth, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Erich G. Scharath Jr.; siblings Elizabeth Dumoulin, Paul Perry, Raymond Perry, Irma Sirois, and James Perry.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 7 at Cartmell–Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court Street, Plymouth. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Police Relief Association, c/o Plymouth Police Department, 20 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.
