“Stand Up for Hope – A Comedy Night for Nathan” a fundraiser for two-year-old cancer patient Nathan Drifmeyer, will be 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Hotel 1620 Plymouth Harbor, 180 Water St. The event aims to provide financial support for Nathan’s family.
Nathan’s aunt, Sheree Wordell, organized the fundraiser.
“The last thing you want to hear about your child is that they have cancer,” Wordell said.
The Drifmeyers got news in June Nathan was diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms Tumor cancer. Nathan is receiving chemotherapy at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and is staying at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Wordell, also a mother of two young children, said she hopes the fundraiser will enable family to spend more time with Nathan. His mother, Louise is working reduced hours, and his father, Joey is staying at home.
“What will help Nathan heal as well as he can is having the security of both of his parents with him while he’s going through this,” Wordell said.
Nathan’s kidney was removed in August 2025 and his treatment – including radiation and chemotherapy – is expected to end in February.
Proceeds from the $75 tickets will go to the family. Attendees will get to see a show with three comedians – John Turco, Jessie Casciano, and Steve Bjork — doing standup. Each ticket includes the show, a drink ticket, a cash bar, bites served through the night, dessert from Crumbl Cookies, a silent auction, and raffle prizes.
“We are definitely feeling the love from the community to make this happen,” Wordell said, because everything was donated.
Attendees can bid at silent auction Prizes for a weekend at a Cape Cod Airbnb, and raffle prizes include gift certificates from local restaurants, creations by local artists, and passes to Heritage Museums in Sandwich.
Despite going through so much, so young, Wordell said that Nathan is always smiling – and for him, this is normal.
“It’s crazy what, even at two years old, you can adapt to,” she said.
Tickets are available here.
