Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Plymouth Independent, I am honored to announce that the Rye Tavern, located at 517 Old Sandwich Road, Plymouth, MA, will serve as a Presenting Sponsor of our inaugural Freedom of the Press Gala on September 26, 2026.

We are incredibly proud to partner with a true Plymouth institution. Located on one of the oldest roads in the country, the building that houses the Rye Tavern has been a cornerstone of our community since 1792. Originally known as the Cornish Tavern, it served as a vital stagecoach stop on the route from Boston to the Cape, famously welcoming historic figures like John Adams, who sought shelter there during a winter storm in 1794.

Today, the Rye Tavern remains a symbol of Plymouth’s enduring spirit. By bridging its rich 18th-century history with a modern commitment to local sustainability and community gathering, it perfectly embodies the values of preservation and civic engagement that the Plymouth Independent strives to uphold.

From the outset, our goal was to partner with an organization whose roots run deep in our town’s history. We are deeply grateful for their support and look forward to celebrating this landmark evening with all of you.

If you would like to be a sponsor of this inaugural event, please contact Kelly Petti at kpetti@plymouthindependent.org.
