An apocalyptic event for the history books, or just the kind of significant snowfall we used to expect every January?
It depends on who’s delivering the forecast or writing the headline. But there is a major storm headed this way, on top of brutally cold temperatures that arrived during the early morning hours of Saturday. Snow is expected to reach the Plymouth area some time after 1 p.m. Sunday and last until about 10 a.m. Monday. Winds could gust to as high as 40 mph. Sunday night, creating whiteout conditions. As of Saturday morning, snowfall totals of between 12 and 18 inches are projected for the region.
In anticipation of the storm – which is affecting a wide swath of the country – the town announced that a parking ban will go into effect at 1 p.m. Sunday in parts of the downtown and North Plymouth areas. Vehicles parked within those zones “will be subject to tagging and towing at the owner’s expense during the parking ban,” the town said, but public lots will be open.
Here are the affected streets, as listed on the town website: “The eastern end of Hedge Road, west to Court Street, across Court Street to South Spooner Street, west on South Spooner Street to Standish Avenue, south on Standish Avenue to Samoset Street, east on Samoset Street to Oak Street, south on Oak Street to Summer Street, east on Summer Street to Pleasant Street, south on Pleasant Street to Robinson Street, west on Robinson Street to Mayflower Street, south on Mayflower Street to South Street, east on South Street to Sandwich Street, and south on Sandwich Street to the entrance of Stephens Field.”
In addition, the map below outlines areas where parking will be prohibited.

The town has also compiled a “Winter Storm & Cold Resource Guide” that includes information about warming centers, food and housing resources, utility and police contacts, sidewalk snow removal regulations, and other information.
And in case you’re wondering, Sunday’s forecast for Denver calls for cold temperatures (with a high of 22) and a chance of light snow. But we all know that “Maye” change.
