A Plymouth County jury has indicted two alleged drug dealers from Boston, accused of selling cocaine and fentanyl in Plymouth — felonies that carry heavy potential jail terms.
Tyre Wade, 33, and Melik Harrison, 26, of Boston, have been jailed since their January arrest by Plymouth police, aided by Oakley, the department’s drug sniffing yellow lab.
The men were arrested January 28 as they sat in a rental Ford Edge outside of 30 Thomas Ave. in Plymouth, police reports said. Between them, the two men had more than 40 grams of cocaine and more than 20 grams of fentanyl, police alleged.
Police were on the scene responding to reports of a suspicious car idling on the street, police reports said.
During the call, police allegedly discovered crack cocaine and fentanyl — including 12 baggies of crack Oakley found hidden in Wade’s pants, police reports said.
Harrison, the driver, allegedly tossed a baggy containing cocaine out of the car as officers approached, police wrote.
As additional officers arrived as backup, several people emerged from the house, yelling at the police and pointing their phones at them as if recording them, police reports said.
Harrison was arrested for possession of cocaine and placed in the cruiser. After he was escorted from the cruiser, police searched the car, allegedly finding four baggies containing crack and one bag with what appeared to be fentanyl.
When police searched the Ford again, they found a small scale on the floor, police alleged.
Police also found seven cellphones and a laxative commonly used as a cutting agent in the manufacture of narcotics, police wrote.
Both men, who were ordered jailed after being found dangerous by a judge, are facing multiple drug charges including serious trafficking offenses.
They are both charged with fentanyl trafficking. If convicted they face a mandatory minimum sentence of three and a half years in state prison.
They are also charged with cocaine trafficking, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of two years.
Both men had previous drug convictions.
Harrison served 60 days in jail last year after being convicted of possession of Class B in Wareham District Court, police reports said.
Wade was found guilty of possession of cocaine in 2019 in Barnstable Superior Court. When he was arrested in Plymouth, he was on pre-trial release after being indicted by a Barnstable County jury in 2023 on charges of cocaine trafficking, court records show.
In 2020, he was sentenced to a year and a half in jail after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and fentanyl in Fall River, court records show.
