Michael A. Gallerani, 72, a Plymouth native, died unexpectedly at his home Aug. 8, 2026. He was 72.
Born Sept. 5, 1953 to the late William Joseph and Catherine Marie Gallerani, his career in public service included 12 years as Plymouth’s economic development director and other public service jobs in Stoneham, Natick, and Uxbridge. Following Hurricane Katrina, he participated in recovery efforts for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and also participated in recovery efforts following superstorm Sandy in Connecticut.
In 2023, he founded the Edward W. Santos Community Service Award to recognize those who give their time and talents in service to Plymouth. He was also a breast cancer survivor. Family and friends remember him for his love of Plymouth, Pontiac automobiles, basketball, the Boston Red Sox, professional wrestling and live music performed by such classic artists as Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, and Three Dog Night.
Michael and his longtime partner, Jean Kelleher, also loved spending time together in Ogunquit,
Elena Grace, whose arrival brought him tremendous joy and added another special chapter to his life as a grandfather.
Michael is survived by his longtime partner Jean Kelleher; his sons Anthony M. Gallerani and his wife, Tatum Stewart, and her son, Wyatt; Matthew W. Gallerani and his wife, Michelly Gallerani, and their family, Pedro, Laura and Elena Grace. He is also survived by his stepdaughter, Jacqueline Dayton Dove and her husband, John Dove; his grandson, Leonard “Lenny” Dove; his godson, John Morris; cousins, known to Michael as the “P Sisters”; his Gallerani cousins: his close friend, Edward Carll; and many other family members and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Marie Reid Gallerani.
A celebration of life will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Loring Center, 384 Court St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Edward W.
