A 61-year-old Plymouth woman was fatally injured Monday afternoon when a tree fell onto her back porch, according to fire and police officials.

A report of a woman trapped under a fallen tree at her Sullivan Avenue home came in around 1:10 p.m., when first responders were dispatched.

Plymouth Police and her neighbors located the woman and immediately started working to extricate her and render care. She was transported to a hospital by Brewster Ambulance and Plymouth firefighters where she was pronounced dead.

Her name had not been released Monday pending notification of her family members.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was sitting outside on her porch when a large gust of wind caused the tree to snap and collapse onto the home, according to a joint release from the Plymouth Police and Fire departments.

The incident is under investigation by the Plymouth Police Department and State Police detectives assigned to the Plymouth District Attorney’s Office.
