Judith Marie (Woodbury) Moakler, who after retirement became an accomplished painter, died Saturday, July 25. She was 76.
Born on D-Day, June 6 1940, in Winthrop, MA and raised by her aunt and uncle, Helen and Charles Huston, of Halifax, MA, she graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1958 and received a Batchelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst majoring in elementary education in 1962. She taught school in Oklahoma and Connecticut.
After retiring from Aetna Health Plans Insurance Company where she was a corporate trainer and contract drafter, Judith became an accomplished artist working with watercolors and pastels. She displayed her works in various craft fairs and art shows throughout New England and Florida, where she won many awards.
She also developed a passion for the craft of rug hooking, becoming a McGown certified teacher and a member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists (ATHA).
She is survived by her husband, Robert Moakler; sons Robert and wife Melinda Moakler, Richard and wife Elizabeth Moakler, daughter Kathryn and husband Bradley Goodman; grandchildren Bradley, Drew, Sean, Shannon, Zoe, Noah, Eden; and two great grandchildren Carson and Parker. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Woodbury and wife Mary.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6 at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth. A mass will be 11 a.m. the following day at St. Bonaventure Church, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Judith’s memory be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
