Margaret M. O’Hara, a longtime hospital volunteer and family matriarch, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 7. She was 93.
Born in Stoneham on Aug. 20, 1932, to the late Daniel C. and Mary C. (Donegan) Creedon, she was raised in Wakefield, graduated from Wakefield High School, and attended Secretarial School. She and her late husband Leonard lived in Milford before making Plymouth their home in 1968, where they raised their family. She also worked as a teacher’s aide at Federal Furnace School and volunteered at Jordan Hospital. In 1978, she and her husband hosted Susanne, a German high school exchange student, who became like a daughter to them.
Her family and friends remember her for her love of travel, golfing with friends, weekly bingo at Kingston Senior Center, and spending time at Plymouth Long Beach, where she enjoyed watching the birds.
She is survived by children Ronald O’Hara and his wife, Theresa, of Manomet; Jacqueline O’Hara and her husband, Phillip Kimber, of Brewster; Timothy O’Hara and his wife, Gail, of Sagamore Beach; and Thomas O’Hara and his wife, Mary, of Norfolk; grandchildren Brendan, Emmett, Daniel, Christopher, Kellie, Mitchell, Ryan, Sean, Erin, Connor, Braden, and Emma; great grandchildren Rowan, Eedee, Leo, and Odin; and son-in-law, John Collins of Harwich.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; her sister Kathleen Cardillo; daughters Colleen Collins and Diane O’Hara, and her husband, Brian Collins; and grandchildren Jonathan and Patrick.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 13 at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. A service will be 10 a.m. the following day at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Vine Hills Cemetery.
