Daniel Maggelet

Daniel J. Maggelet, of Plymouth, a retired postal worker who spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy, died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 5. He was 88.

Born on May 6, 1938, in Norwood, MA, to the late Theodore and Ruth (Reardon) Maggelet, he graduated from Canton High School before serving in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Following his honorable military career, Daniel served with the U.S. Postal Service until he retired after 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Isabelle M. (Catrino) Maggelet ; his son, James, and his wife Ivana of Germany; his daughters, Judi Maggelet of Boston, Danielle Maggelet and her partner David Richardson of Weymouth, and Amy Rosario and her husband Wayne of Somerset; his sister, Margaret Mary Keegan of Maryland; and grandchildren Timothy and Jacquelyn Rosario and his bonus grandchildren Selena Kostokiez and Boca Kostokiez; several nieces and nephews; and his grandoggies, Fonzie, Otis, Brownie, and Cocoa.

He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Connelly and brother Theodore Maggelet.

Visiting hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 at Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Home, 619 State Rd. in Plymouth. A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. on Thursday June 11 at St. Bonaventure Church, 801 State Rd., Manomet, followed by burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Daniel’s name may be made to Friends of the Plymouth Pound, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Friends of the Unborn, or Cranberry Hospice.
