John F. Kimball

John F. Kimball, who wanted to be remembered for his love of auto racing and hot rods, died Saturday, May 9th, at the Life Care Center in Plymouth. He was 82.

Born in Woburn on June 13, 1943, to the late Ernest and Rose (Desmond) Kimball, he grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford Vocational Technical High School and worked many years as a carpenter, originally with Local 624.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn J. Kimball of Plymouth; sister Anne Edgerly of Methuen; and brother Edwin Kimball of Pinehurst, NC. He was preceded in death by this wife Mary (Sullivan) Kimball; and brothers Donald Kimball and Lawrence Kimball.

His family and friends remember him for his model trains, and his love of science fiction, Boston sports and especially hot rods and auto racing.

Visitation will be held 8 to 9 a.m. Friday, May 22 at the Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., Plymouth. A 10 a.m. mass will follow at St. Mary’s Church, Plymouth. Burial will be later.

Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress.
