Linda Marie (Alves) Carter

Linda Marie Carter, a former legal secretary and longtime clerk in the Plymouth County Superior Court, died March 19th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 76.

Born Aug. 24, 1949 to George and Hazel Alves of Plymouth, she was a 1967 graduate of Plymouth Carver High School, where she met her husband of 55 years, Larry Carter. He was at her bedside when she died.

She worked several jobs in the legal profession. She was a legal secretary, a clerk with the superior court and retired at Plymouth Probate and Family Court. She also was a Teacher’s Aide while her children were young.   

Her family and friends remember her as a lover of gardening, the Red Sox and Disney World, and she enjoyed hosting get-togethers, especially during the holidays where she would sometimes serve her world-class lasagna.  

She is survived by her son Kevin Carter and his wife Jenney Carter of Taunton; and a daughter Marcy Carter-Lutz and her husband Brad Lutz, of Essex Junction, VT. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Alves, of Plymouth; her aunt Elsie (Alves) Pacific, of Danbury, CT; and her uncle Joseph Alves, of Centerville; her sisters-in-law, Beverly Thomas, Gerri DeCosta and Joanne Carter, all of Carver, and many cousins and friends.

Visitation and services will be 10 a.m. to noon Sat. March 28, 2026 at Cartmell-Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at donor services.alz.org. The family also wishes to thank the entire staff of Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center and Autumn Hospice for their compassionate care.
