Born on April 1, 1952, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late Anthony “Chipper” and Hazel “Bebe” (Vancini) Valente. Nancy grew up in Plymouth, graduating from Plymouth-Carver High School in 1970. During her school years, she worked at her family’s business, Valente Brothers Florist in North Plymouth, where she developed a lifelong passion for flowers – especially lilies and the colorful blossoms of spring.
Nancy attended Salem State College, Chandler School, and Bentley College. Following college, she moved to Roslindale and met the love of her life, Frank. Pursuing her career as a paralegal, she was a Corporate Paralegal with Hutchins Wheeler & Ditmar for 16 years and Senior Corporate Paralegal with K&L Gates LLP for 11 years. Nancy was respected in her field and admired for her skill and dedication. Nearing retirement, Nancy decided to continue her education and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Curry College in 2014.
Beyond her professional life, Nancy enjoyed reading, walking, bike riding, swimming with the girls at the pool, and lunch with her friends. She was proud of her vegetable garden. She loved the beach and the ocean’s salt air and looked forward to traveling each year to Florida with Frank. She also loved animals, especially dogs.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ron Valente, and her late cousin, Jack Medeiros. She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Cerchione of Plymouth; nephew Jesse Valente of New Mexico; and niece Jody Scott, and her two sons of Colorado. She also leaves behind her cousins, Marie Van Slyck of Duxbury; Warren Valente, Kenneth Almeida, Jane Condon, Jim Benotti, all of Plymouth, Bobby Lou Achstepter of Bournedale, Carol DeVita of California, Chester Rich of Sandwich, and Frank Vancini of Westfield.
