Plymouth deserves more than an upgrade of Memorial Hall. What is needed is really a complete redo, developed like a true music/theatre venue. The side seats are uncomfortable, twisting necks of all viewers and some seats on the back curves are so short for leg room. They they are useless unless you are probably a younger person. Providing a space similar to the auditorium at Plymouth North would serve this town for the very long term, as well as brining in musical and theater performances that would enhance all business’s downtown. It also would not encroach on the Spire as they are really more of a niche venue because of much smaller seating.

All I read about is Memorial Hall must be properly dealt with because of its “status” in the eyes of preservation. Well, Plymouth will never be a true arts/cultural center space, especially for the Plymouth Philharmonic, until this building is properly redone or torn down and a new facility is built. Stop wasting taxpayers’ money and time, do it right the first time. And there has never been a mention of developing a capital campaign to raise the extra money to do it properly? I am sure the town can search for grants to help pay for, what should be, a great space for all with comfortable seating and proper sight lines. Do it once and do it right.
