Greatly appreciate what Mr. Vayo’s organization is trying to do. But unfortunately, until such time as parking is not onerous for Plymouth residents, downtown will be avoided by us locals. Especially avoided during tourist season.
I have a daughter who lives in Rye [New Hampshire] near Portsmouth. Although it may take a bit of searching, within 5 to 10 minutes you can find free or inexpensive parking near where you want to go.
Here in Plymouth that’s not true. Either parking involves a long walk or significant payment or both. Mode of payment is time consuming and onerous.
In the past, I might have spent 10-15 minutes to buy something in a downtown store and leave. Now that’s not possible, so shop elsewhere. So we end up with bars, restaurants, ice cream and T-shirt shops for the tourists. Downtown is no longer America’s hometown. Doesn’t reflect the needs of the local population. Parking is the obstacle.
